What is Big Bend AHEC?

Big Bend Area Health Education Center, Inc. (Big Bend AHEC) is a nationally recognized not-for-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors who are local health care professionals, educators, and community leaders who represent the health needs of the communities we serve.  Big Bend AHEC is a member of the Florida AHEC Network, an affiliation of 10 locally governed AHEC’s and five AHEC Program Offices located at each of the Colleges of Medicine in Florida. Our mission is to create and enhance community and academic partnerships to improve the health of rural and medically underserved populations.


Big Bend AHEC serves the following counties:

Bay, Calhoun, Franklin, Gadsden, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson, Jefferson, Leon, Liberty, Madison, Taylor, Washington, and Wakulla.
